New Delhi, Jun 4: Several accused persons, including doctors and other individuals named in the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) chargesheet in the Red Fort car blast case, were produced before the Patiala House Court on Thursday as judicial proceedings continued in one of the agency’s most closely watched investigations.
The development comes weeks after the NIA filed a massive chargesheet running into thousands of pages against 10 accused persons following its investigation into the November 2025 vehicle-borne blast near Delhi’s Red Fort.
Among those facing proceedings are Dr. Muzamil Shakeel Ganai of Pulwama, Dr. Adeel Ahmed Rather, originally from Anantnag and later based in Saharanpur, religious preacher Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay of Shopian, and several other accused named by the agency. Dr. Shaheen Saeed, popularly referred as “Madam Surgeon,” is reported to be from Lucknow and was also named in the investigation.
Investigators have alleged the existence of a sophisticated network involving educated professionals and associates operating through financial, logistical and communication channels. Media reports quoting investigative findings have described the probe as involving an alleged “white-collar” network, a description that has drawn significant public attention because several accused are medical professionals.
The NIA has alleged that the accused were involved in various aspects of planning, facilitation, financing and support activities connected to the case. The agency’s investigation subsequently expanded across multiple states, leading to searches and arrests at various locations.
The accused have not been convicted, and all allegations remain subject to judicial scrutiny during the trial process.
Thursday’s proceedings before the Patiala House Court formed part of the continuing legal process following the filing of the chargesheet. The court is expected to consider the material submitted by the investigating agency as the matter progresses further. [KNT]
