Awantipora, Jun 5: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday visited the AIIMS Awantipora project site to assess the progress of work and interact with officials associated with the prestigious healthcare institution.
Mehbooba Mufti was accompanied by MLA Tral Rafiq Ahmad Naik and MLA Pulwama Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra during the visit.
The PDP delegation reviewed the status of construction and engaged with the concerned agencies overseeing execution of the project.
During the visit, Mehbooba Mufti sought details regarding the pace of work, infrastructure development and timelines for completion of the institution, which is expected to play a significant role in strengthening tertiary healthcare facilities in Kashmir.
She reiterated her commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at ensuring the timely completion of the project and emphasized the importance of making advanced healthcare services accessible to people of the region.
According to PDP leaders, the visit was undertaken to gain a first-hand understanding of the progress achieved on the ground and to assess issues requiring attention for expediting completion of the facility.
The AIIMS Awantipora project is considered one of the most significant healthcare infrastructure initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir and is expected to provide specialized medical services, advanced treatment facilities and medical education opportunities once fully operational.
The visit comes amid growing public interest in the progress of major infrastructure and healthcare projects across the Union Territory.
Mehbooba Mufti said quality healthcare infrastructure remains essential for public welfare and stressed the need for coordinated efforts to ensure that the institution becomes functional at the earliest. [KNT]
