Jammu, Jun 6: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba, Anuj Kumar, has ordered a departmental inquiry and suspended four police personnel, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Ramgarh Police Station, over allegations of facilitating a compromise in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Official sources said that Inspector Bhopinder Singh, SHO Ramgarh, along with one Probationary Sub-Inspector (PSI) and two Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), has been placed under suspension. All four have been attached to the District Police Lines (DPL) pending the outcome of the inquiry.
The SSP has directed a detailed probe to ascertain the facts and fix responsibility in the matter, emphasizing strict action in cases involving sensitive offences such as those under the POCSO Act.
Meanwhile, Inspector Ajay Singh Chib has been posted as the new SHO of Ramgarh Police Station.
The action follows complaints regarding the handling of the sensitive case, prompting swift administrative intervention by the district police authorities. (KNO)
