New Delhi, Jul 1: Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Wednesday marked 11 years of the Digital India initiative, highlighting its transformative impact on governance, public service delivery and citizens’ lives.
Modi said that Digital India has redefined governance by making it more transparent, efficient and citizen-centric while accelerating all-round development across the country. He noted that the initiative has touched every aspect of life, from seamless digital payments and transparent Direct Benefit Transfers to the expansion of Digital Public Infrastructure, making technology a powerful instrument for enhancing the “Ease of Living.”
The Prime Minister observed that the widespread adoption of technology by over a billion Indians has brought about a transformative change, making Digital India a strong foundation for a developed and self-reliant India.
Modi further stated that Digital India has taken the wave of innovation to every part of the country, particularly villages and Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. He said that young entrepreneurs, startups and innovators from across India are developing solutions to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges. The Prime Minister noted that the initiative has strengthened key sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, commerce and public service delivery, making governance more accessible, transparent and efficient.
Highlighting India’s growing leadership in emerging technologies, Modi highlighted that the country’s progress in areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), semiconductors and quantum computing will open new avenues for growth and opportunity. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to building a future where technology serves humanity, empowers every citizen and drives sustainable development.
The Prime Minister posted on X: Today, we mark 11 years since the Digital India initiative was launched. This initiative has redefined governance, empowered citizens and accelerated all-round development. It has touched every aspect of life. From seamless digital payments and direct benefit transfers reaching beneficiaries with transparency to the expanding digital public infrastructure, technology has become a powerful instrument for furthering ‘Ease of Living.’
Digital India has taken the wave of innovation to all parts of India, especially villages, Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Young entrepreneurs, StartUps and innovators from every corner of the country are creating solutions to the pressing challenges that our planet faces. This initiative has strengthened education, healthcare, agriculture, commerce and public service delivery, making governance more transparent, efficient and accessible.
Our strides in the digital world have ensured that India is making rapid progress in emerging technologies such as AI, semiconductors, quantum computing and more. This too will open new avenues for growth and opportunity. Our focus will remain on creating a future where technology serves humanity, empowers every citizen and drives sustainable development.
