Srinagar, Jul 30: A senior National Conference leader and former MLA, who was expelled from the party earlier in the day, joined the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party on Thursday in the presence of party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari.
Bukhari formally welcomed the veteran politician, Syed Muhammad Akhoon, along with several other new entrants into the party, expressing hope that their experience would strengthen the organization and its outreach across Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters after the joining ceremony, the Apni Party chief launched a sharp attack on the administration, alleging that there was a growing disconnect between the government machinery and the people.
He said public grievances were mounting despite repeated assurances from the authorities.
“There is a huge gap between the administration and the people. Despite the installation of smart meters, people continue to face power shortages. There is no adequate drinking water and road infrastructure in many areas,” Bukhari said.
He urged the administration to focus on addressing basic civic issues affecting the common people rather than remaining confined to official claims, asserting that governance should be reflected in the delivery of essential public services. [KNT]
