Shopian, Sep 6: Police have arrested four persons for alleged drug consumption after they were intercepted during routine patrolling at Bandpawa Crossing and subsequently tested positive for THC during drug detection tests at District Hospital Shopian, officials said.
A police spokesperson said that the Police have arrested four persons after they tested positive for consumption of a prohibited substance during drug detection tests conducted at District Hospital Shopian.
During routine patrolling at Bandpawa Crossing, a police party of Police Station Zainapora intercepted four persons displaying signs of intoxication. The arrested persons have been identified as, Muntazir Bashir S/o Bashir Ahmad Mir R/o Hadigam, Kulgam, Mehraj Ahmad Mir S/o Gh. Mohd Mir R/o Hadigam, Kulgam, Umar Rashid Najar S/o Ab. Rashid Najar R/o Krawara, Imam Sahib and Shakoor Gulzar S/o Gulzar Ahmad Teeli R/o Krawara, Imam Sahib.
The individuals were taken to District Hospital Shopian for medical examination in the presence of the village Lambardar. During examination, all four tested positive for THC in an instant drug detection test.
Accordingly, FIR No. 115/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been taken up.
Shopian Police remains committed to taking firm and lawful action against drug abuse and urges the public to cooperate in preventing drug-related activities. (JKNS)
