Srinagar, Sep 15: Veteran journalist and Chief Editor of daily Morning Times, Syed Bashir Ahmad Simnaani, popularly known as Naushad, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, sending shockwaves across the journalistic fraternity and evoking grief in political, social and religious circles of the Kashmir Valley.
Simnaani had rendered distinguished services to journalism since the 1980s and continued his work until the present day. Over the decades, he gave voice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting their issues, concerns and sentiments through his journalistic work.
His demise has been widely mourned as a major loss to the journalistic fraternity, with people from different walks of life expressing condolences to the bereaved family.
The veteran journalist was laid to rest at the graveyard in Rawalpora, Srinagar.
The congregational prayers for the departed soul will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 3 pm at Alamdar Colony, Lane-J graveyard, Rawalpora, Srinagar.
May Allah Almighty forgive the departed soul, elevate his ranks and grant patience and fortitude to the bereaved family. (KNS)
