Jammu, Nov 16: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar Tuesday reviewed the physical and financial progress of various ongoing projects of Skill Development Department (SDD) in a high level meeting at Civil Secretariat here.
Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon; Mission Director, Skill Development Mission, J&K, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary; Managing Director, JKPCC, Vikas Kundal; Development Commissioner Works, Sami Arif; Director SDD, Sudershan Kumar; Chief Engineer, R&B, Kashmir/Jammu; Director Finance, concerned Principals, Superintendents of ITIs were present in the meeting besides concerned District level officers attended the meeting through virtual mode.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations and discussions were held on various ongoing centrally sponsored schemes under Polytechnic and ITI sectors, establishment of 18 new Polytechnics, physical and financial status of new Polytechnics, installation status of machinery and equipments in new Polytechnics, up gradation of 4 old Polytechnics and construction of Women Hostels across Jammu and Kashmir.
While reviewing the physical and financial progress of various ongoing projects, Advisor Bhatnagar directed the concerned officers to complete the ongoing works on Polytechnic buildings in time so that the students can be shifted to the new buildings.
The Advisor also asked the concerned officers to submit the requisite plan for installation of machinery and equipment in newly constructed Polytechnics.
While asking the officers for proper utilisation of funds, Advisor Bhatnagar delved upon the officers to ensure that the funds are utilised on assigned works besides quality of work should be maintained in all respect and responsibility to be fixed on any kind of default.
The Advisor further directed the Principals of Polytechnics to ensure that all the seats are filled in each Polytechnic besides proper counselling camps should be held to attract more students for admission into Polytechnics.
During the meeting, Principal Secretary, SDD briefed the Advisor about physical and financial progress of various projects under various centrally sponsored schemes.
The Advisor was also informed about Skills Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement (STRIVE) scheme to improve overall operational environment of ITIs and Polytechnic Colleges.
