Keep men and machinery ready

The weatherman has predicted fresh snowfall across Kashmir on the eve of Christmas. The Meteorological department has informed that a fresh Western Disturbance is affecting Jammu and Kashmir from December 24-December 26, during which there is a possibility of snowfall at most places of Kashmir including plains as well as higher reaches. The fresh prediction has put the responsibility on the shoulders of the government to stay alert for ensuring road clearance and other related measures. It has been observed that the claims being made by the government always prove futile on the ground as the road clearance work always takes time here, thus leaving the local populace to lurch at large. The people post previous snowfall are always being pushed to the wall as the roads are never being cleared on time. Nonetheless, the fresh prediction by the weatherman has brought another chance to the administration to help the people at an appropriate time so that they will not be forced yet again to face hardships. The government must pass strict directions to the administration to remain alert and ensure the people will not be pushed to the wall again. The administration must press its men and machinery for the services to clear the snow from the roads and take adequate measures to ensure the previous situation is not repeated this time. Besides roads, the men and machinery should also be kept ready for the residential areas here so that the residents especially in the Old City areas here could heave a sigh of relief.
