Srinagar, May 3: With the resurgence of deadly Coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir, the northern belt of the valley last week reported a total of 3,163 cases and 10 deaths with Baramulla district most affected due to the infection rate.
North Kashmir comprising three border districts including, Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara are showing a regular surge in positive COVID19 cases. While Baramulla is most affected due to the virus, Bandipora is showing a gradual improvement in both positivity and fatality rate.
According to the figures available, the northern belt of Kashmir reported a total of 3,163 cases last week between Monday to Sunday of which 1,901 were reported from Baramulla alone followed by Kupwara with 778 cases and 484 in Bandipora.
Figures reveal that a total of 10 Covid positive patients have died last week of which a total of seven belonged to Baramulla and three to Kupwara while Bandipora has not reported a single death.
The figures reveals that Baramulla started to show a steep rise in cases after Sunday and reported 197, 246 cases in the consecutive days. On April 29, around 429 cases were reported followed by 316 on April 30 and 268 and 309 on the first two days of the ensuing month.
A total of seven deaths were reported in Baramulla district in the last week, figures reveal.
In Kupwara figures reveal that a total of 778 cases were reported last week and a surge was witnessed since April 30 with a triple-figure of 206 cases followed by 122, 122 on May 1 and 2 of this month.
The border district reported a total of three deaths due to the coronavirus, reveal the figures.
The figure about the least affected district Bandipora reveal that a total of 484 cases were reported in the last week with 123 cases reported on April 27.
The figures reveal that Bandipora has not reported any deaths due to the virus in the past week.
A total of 2314 COVID-19 dedicated beds have been prepared of which 1131 will have high and low flow oxygen support while work is underway to increase the bed capacity.
Remote areas including, Uri, Gurez, Machil, and Keran have also been facilitated with the oxygen supported beds to mitigate the challenges in these far-off places.
