Govt misses its own deadline, fails to vaccinate all above 45 age group in 10 days

Around 70% vaccinated in Kashmir, over 98% in Jammu

Srinagar, May 28: Jammu and Kashmir administration has missed the deadline set by the LG Governor Manoj Singh to administer the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine to all above 45 years of age within 10 days.
On May 16, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had set a timeline of 10-days for achieving the target of 100 percent vaccination of 45 age group with the first dose.
However, since then 12 days have passed but administration is yet to achieve the target of administering the first dose to all above 45 group.
As per the data available, Jammu, Shopian and Ganderbal districts have achieved the target of 100 percent vaccination in all above 45 years of age but rest of the 17 districts are yet to achieve the target.
In Kupwara district just around 33 percent of the population above 45 group have been given the first dose of vaccine. In Srinagar, 42 percent people of the above 45 year age group have got their first dose of vaccination.
In Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, Budgam, Baramulla and Bandipora district 56.54 percent, 65.12 percent, 57.39 percent, 70 percent 69 percent and 76 percent people have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 respectively.
In Jammu division, Samba district is about to achieve the target as around 98 percent of the persons above 45 have got their first jab.
In Udhampur 68.75 percent, Rajouri 62.23 percent, Kuthua 72 percent, Poonch 69 percent, Ramban 77 percent, Doda 62.4 percent, Kishtiwar 74.4 percent and Reasi 64 percent people above 45 years of age have been given first dose of the vaccine.
In Kashmir division around 70 percent of the total population of above 45 group have been given first dose of vaccine while in Jammu division around 98.3 percent have been given first dose of vaccination.
In cumulative form, around 68 percent of the population of above 45 group have been administered with the first dose of Covid-19.
