Ganderbal, Dec 28: The residents of several villages in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district are up in arms against the district administration for failing to maintain and upgrade the condition of roads.
The locals of Chinar, Ari Goripora and its adjoining areas of Ganderbal said that the R&B department has failed to maintain the roads due to which they are suffering.
The main roads including lanes and by-lanes have developed huge potholes which give tough time to daily commuters, they said.
“The main road from Chinar Stop to Ari Goripora which connects them with other districts of the valley via Kangan is in shambles as the concerned department has failed to maintain its condition,” Asif Ahmad Rather, a local said.
He said not only the main roads but the link roads also are in a dilapidated condition. “These roads have developed huge potholes and when it rains the water gets filled in these potholes thus posing a serious threat to human lives,” he said.
The people said there is a lack of a proper drainage system which results in the accumulation of water in numerous places. “This is another nightmare for us,” they said.
They have appealed to the Roads & Buildings department to upgrade the condition of the roads in the district.
