The holy month of Ramadhan has arrived with administration claiming to have adequate measures and passed directions to the concerned departments to ensure adequate electricity, water supply and other facilities in the ongoing month especially during Sehri and Iftar times. However, the ground reality is something different as the people from all across Srinagar and other districts have been complaining of erratic power supply by the department even during Sehri and Iftar times, thus leaving the people to lurch at large. One fails to understand what kind of directives is being issued to departments and whether the departments are taking these directives seriously. The only statement people are being told is that the overloading by the consumers is leading to the pesky power cuts. The department concerned has been making tall claims of enhancing the infrastructure since long especially from last one year, but one fails to understand why the enhancement of the infra has failed to ensure adequate electricity supply to the people. The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) itself had stated that it would ensure adequate electricity in this month especially during Sehri and Iftar times, but failed fulfill the promises yet again. There is a need to ensure better facilities to the Muslim community especially in this ongoing month and the government must consider finding ways to ensure adequate electricity to the consumers especially during Sehri and Iftar times so that the people here could heave a sigh of relief.
