Put teachers at the centre

The International Women’s Day this year is being celebrated tomorrow across the globe while many functions have so far been organized by the government departments, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and educational institutions where the speakers threw light on the crucial role of women in the society. Without women, a society cannot progress, from her lap to her work in the field; women have a diligent role to create a better way for the man to achieve the heights in this world. But, celebrating the day without ensuring the rights to the women, can never serve the cause of ensuring women empowerment and equality within the society as it needs the collaborative efforts and support to ensure that the motive is achieved on the ground. However, keeping in view the rising cases of harassment at work places, dowry related issues, domestic violence and other issues; the people should work in tandem to put an end to such happenings. There are several such cases that are pending in the courts or the Shariah courts in Kashmir, which indicates that the equality within the society has not been ensured yet. The domestic violence cases have also risen in the recent past as several such cases have been reported so far, but the time has come when all including government functionaries as well as the religious organizations should come together and discuss the issue threadbare and take joint initiatives to ensure that the domestic violence and harassment to women are put to an immediate end.
