Pulwama, Oct 18: Even after an elapse of over four years, a proposed marriage hall in Pulwama town of south Kashmir is nowhere in sight.
The residents of Pulwama town said, a marriage hall was approved for the town by the government after repeated requests to them.
They said that around four years have passed but as of now, no construction work has been taken up.
Zeeshan Ahmad, a local social activist, said that there remains limited space in the towns and facilities of marriage halls are of vital importance.
He said that a majority of households don’t have enough space to host guests for marriages and other events, but the lack of such facilities are pushing them to the wall.
Sameer Ahmad, another local resident said that marriage halls in large numbers have been constructed in villages but due to unknown reasons, Pulwama town has been neglected.
He said that poor people are unable to bear the expenses of tents and other related things and it could have been easy for them to host the guests in case the marriage hall would have been constructed.
Locals said that they have brought this issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but as of now nothing has been done in this regard.
They said that the government has identified the land four years but the work hasn’t started yet.
The locals urged the higher ups to look into the matter so that they could heave a sigh of relief.
