Act against all erring officers

The government has finally woke up and took a stringent action against the officers from Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) for failing to ensure adequate electricity to the consumers especially during Sehri and Iftar times. The action was appreciated by the people at the grassroots level and thus are expecting an adequate electricity from now onwards. A day after the action was initiated, the consumers across Srinagar and other adjacent districts have finally heaved a sigh of relief as the department has not resorted to unscheduled power cuts today. The complaints about erratic power supply were reaching from almost every nook and corner of Kashmir Valley especially from Srinagar, the summer capital of the Union Territory. However, one fails to understand why the government has taken a selective action in this regard. The other officers in the department have been completely excluded from the action, which points a finger over the action initiated by the higher ups of the concerned department. There is a need to take all the erring officers to the task so that the action would not look a favourable for any. Besides, the government should also direct the concerned officers to stay active at least for this month to ensure that the people will not suffer in the holy month of Ramadhan especially at the times of Sehri and Iftari. Nonetheless, the people as requested by the concerned top official, should not misuse the electricity and must cooperated with the department by using the electricity judiciously at the peak times to avoid the pesky power cuts.
