Ganderbal, Oct 1: Police in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal claimed to have foiled smuggling bid of forest produce medicinal plants, arrested a person and also seized a vehicle.
Police said after inputs a naka was laid at Surfraw, Gund area of Kangan and the accused was arrested while the vehicle was seized.
It said that during vehicle checking, a huge quantity 450 kgs of Minor Forest Produce including Kuth (costus), Podophyllum and Picrorhiza were recovered from the possession of a man identified as Asif Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Muhammad of Surfraw, Gund.
The illegal forest produce was being ferried by the accused in his Maruti van bearing registration number (JK02AN-3855) which was also seized on the spot. (KNT)
