NBA accredits two more UG programs at NIT Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 1: National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has accredited two more undergraduate engineering programs at the National Institute of Technology Srinagar (NIT) Srinagar.
According to a statement, as per NBA, two undergraduate courses including UG courses in Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering have been accredited up to June-2024, in accordance with the ‘Accreditation of Tier 1 Engineering Institutions under the Washington Accord’.
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal extended his greetings to all the faculty, staff, and students of the Institute for appreciable achievement.
He further said they had applied for five undergraduate programs and out of which two have been accredited this year.
“This accreditation will surely help and bring out the best of students from ECE and Mechanical Engineering departments. It will make them capable to move abroad or practice as an engineer in United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and other countries of the Washington Accord,” he said.
Prof. Sehgal said they will assure that quality of the teaching-learning process will not be compromised. NIT Srinagar is among the oldest institutions in the country. We are in a position to offer best quality engineering programs to our students, “he said.
He said NIT Srinagar will leave no stone unturned to achieve creditable space in society at both national and international levels.
Director NIT attributed the contribution of all faculty colleagues especially the role of Coordinator NBA activity, Prof. Ajaz Hussain Mir, HOD Department of Electronics & Communication, and Dr. Harveer Singh Pali, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department who was Nodal Officer for NBA accreditation and their entire team for exemplary work.
Registrar NIT Srinagar, Prof. Kaiser Bukhari termed NBA accreditation as a great achievement for the Institute and stated that Institute will continue to focus on quality education.
“NIT Srinagar is committed to quality and skillful education. We will not compromise on it. In the future, Institute will further work hard so that it will be ranked among the top NITs in the entire country, he said.
Prof. Bukhari also hailed the joint efforts of Prof. Ajaz Hussain Mir, Dr. Harveer Singh Pali, and their entire team for achieving the feat. It is a proud moment for all of us, he said.
Earlier on Aug 07, the expert team for accreditation evaluated the status of various engineering programs at NIT under the Chairmanship Prof. O.G Kakde from the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Nagpur (IIITN).
While two experts Prof Manoj Kumar from Netaji Subhas University of Technology and Prof. Mainuddin from Jamai Milia Islamia visited the in-person NIT Srinagar campus.
NBA Accreditation implies that the Higher Education Institution has a high-quality infrastructure and teachers. It provides better recognition from organizations for employment and research purpose.
Graduating from a Tier 1 NBA Accredited program increases the chance of placements and acceptance in the higher education institutions around the globe many-folds.
