Kulgam, May 13: Continuing the public outreach initiative aimed at taking governance to the doorsteps of the people, a Mega Block Diwas was today held at Devsar under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam.
The programme was attended by ADDC Altaf Ahmad Khan, Joint Director Planning (JDP), ACR, CEO, CMO, Executive Engineers, Tehsildar Devsar, BDO Devsar, and other district and sectoral officers.
Delegations from Kund, Maskhod, Chowgam, Bonigam, Check, Devsar, Berigam and several other villages participated in the programme.
During the event, the DC interacted with a large gathering of residents from Devsar and adjoining areas, who apprised the administration of various issues and demands related to basic amenities and developmental needs.
Key issues highlighted by the public included completion and operationalisation of filtration plants, strengthening of solid waste management systems, development of playfields, and establishment of children’s parks.
Residents of Chowgam village raised concerns regarding augmentation of staff at the local health centre, besides construction and upgradation of roads and development of playfields in the area.
Several road connectivity issues were also projected by the public. The residents further demanded construction of a flood protection bund at Nava.
A delegation of farmers also demanded strict monitoring to ensure the availability of quality pesticides and fertilizers in the market.
People from various other villages also projected their developmental requirements and public issues before the district administration.
The DC gave a patient hearing to all grievances and assured the public that all genuine demands would be addressed in a time-bound manner. He directed the concerned officers to take immediate action on priority issues.
All issues and demands raised during the programme were duly recorded for appropriate action and redressal.
On the occasion, registration and awareness counters were also set up to disseminate information regarding various government schemes and facilitate on-the-spot registration of eligible beneficiaries.
