Keep Kashmir connected

Jammu and Kashmir, like other parts of India is witnessing worrisome situation, that arise due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The experts have been advising people to follow the set Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in spirit to prevent the virus from spreading and have been claiming that the situation on ground is worsening with each passing day in the society as well as in the hospitals. It has been reported that the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and beds designated for the COVID-19 patients in the Srinagar hospitals are fully occupied. The situation as per the hospital administration is under control. However, the patient arrival figure has been increasing manifold with each passing day. In such a scenario, the COVID care centers established by the government can help in accommodating the increasing flow of the patients. In Srinagar, more than half a dozen COVID care centers have been established by the government so far. Nonetheless, in wake of the increasing rush of the patients, the government should consider increasing the number of COVID care centers here in Srinagar so that the increasing number of the COVID patients can be accommodated there. Unlike other districts, Srinagar is witnessing the rush of patients from other districts too, thus needs to be properly equipped to deal with the evolving situation. The government should also enhance the bed capacity with oxygen facilities further to ensure that the people who are tested positive for COVID-19 can get treatment at ease.
