Growing population, growing challenges

As if the scare and the devastation caused by the COVID-19 was not enough, a new scare has generated among the masses over the detection of black fungus cases in Jammu and Kashmir, which has claimed one life in the Union territory as well. The cases of Covid are increasing since the past one month while the steps being taken by the government, especially imposing the curbs across Jammu and Kashmir has led to the dip in the daily cases. But, the panic has once again gripped among the masses especially those who have recovered from the virus as the health officials have detected a couple of black fungus cases yet this year again in the Union Territory. Amidst new scare, the top pulmonologist in Kashmir has publicly claimed that such cases have already been detected in J&K last year and they were treated successfully, thus giving a hope among the masses. However, some of the doctors are out to add fuel to the fire by giving statements that are only creating scare among the people. Therefore, the government, amid taking proactive steps to contain the virus and treat the black fungus cases, should also ensure that no such statements are being issued from any corner so that the people are not pushed to get panicked amid the prevalent situation. Moreover, there is a need to create awareness as it is the only way out to fight the epidemic and creating fear won’t help on the ground in any manner.
