Keep Kashmir connected

With Jammu and Kashmir going through the worst phase of COVID-19 from the past over one month, the medical equipment especially oximeters and oxygen concentrators are selling hot cakes in the Union Territory. Nonetheless, the poor section of the society have been pushed to the wall as the price of these essential medical equipment have suddenly gone up in the markets, thus leaving the downtrodden section of the society to lurch at large. The prices of these essential equipment are all time high in the markets while the authorities have failed to keep a check on the black marketers. One fails to understand why no action is being initiated against the people who are out to earn huge amounts on these equipment by increasing the rates as per their will. Covid has affected every section of the society, be it rich, middle class or a downtrodden section of the society. There is a need to understand that such medical equipment is necessary for each and every person who is tested positive. However, no measures have been taken on the ground to control the soaring prices of these equipment. Therefore, in order to bring respite among the poor people, the government must constitute committees in every district across Jammu and Kashmir to keep a check on the market rates of these equipment and ensure that the poor section is not pushed to the wall. The soaring prices must get proper attention and those involved must be dealt with strictly as per the law.
