Awantipora, Oct 6: The subscribers of private telecommunication companies of Jio and Airtel on Wednesday said that the poor internet and calling services in Danganpora locality of Awantipora town has created an inconvenience for them.
The residents said that the locality consists of over 500 households and have been suffering due to the poor network connectivity.
Muzamil Ahmad, a local resident said that they cannot make any calls even during emergencies and living without proper connectivity in the modern world is like living in the dark age.
He said, “Nowadays, most of the work is being done on mobile phones but due to the poor connectivity, we are being compelled to visit the government offices which otherwise was not required.”
“While the rest of the world is utilizing the 5G internet services, our locality doesn’t even have basic cellular connectivity,” said Mohammad Shafi, another local resident.
He said, “We usually move to other places to make phone calls as most of the times our phones remain out of service, when we stay indoors,” he said.
The locals also said that the student’s community are the worst sufferers and are facing hurdles in attending online classes.
They said, “We have brought this issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but despite repeated assurances, ground situation remained.”
The locals appealed to the concerned authorities from the government as well as private telecommunication companies to install cellular towers in their areas, so that they can avail the mobile phone network facility.
The locals of the area have sought personal intervention of LG Manoj Sinha and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama Baseer Ul Haq in providing cellular towers in the area.
