Srinagar, Oct 13: National Investigation Agency (NIA) Wednesday said that it has arrested five more “operatives” in connection with the militancy conspiracy case.
In a statement issued, the NIA spokesman said that on October 13, NIA arrested five more accused persons namely—Muhammad Haneef Chiralu of Srinagar; Hafeez of Budgam; Owais Dar of Pulwama; Mateen Bhat of Shopian and Arif Farooq Bhat of Srinagar.
“The case pertains to hatching of conspiracy for undertaking violent militant acts in J&K and other major cities, by cadres of militant organisations like Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al Badr and their affiliates,” NIA spokesman.
Pertinently, NIA had earlier arrested four accused in the case on October 12. “Today NIA conducted further searches at two locations in Srinagar and seized electronic devices and incriminating jehadi documents,” the NIA spokesman said.
He said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the five arrested accused persons are militant associates/OGWs of various militant organisations and have been instrumental in providing logistical support to militants and facilitating them in carrying out militant activities.
