Srinagar, Dec 21: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a militant module of Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) by arresting four associates in Pampore area.
A police spokesman, said that Awantipora police received a reliable input regarding activities of Jaish-e-Mohammad militants in Samboora and adjoining areas of Pampore, which is being supported and assisted by militant associates.
“Acting upon information, Police Awantipora with the assistance of Army 50 RR and CRPF 110 BN conducted raid and search in suspected areas of Samboora and during search four militant associates were arrested,” he said.
He identified the arrested persons as Zubair Gul, son of Ghulam Muhammad Ganie of Samboora, Adil Fayaz Ganie, son of Fayaz Ahmed Ganie of Samboora, Basit Ali, son of Ali Muhammad Dar of Samboora and Shahid Nabi Pandith, son of Ghulam Nabi Pandith of Konibal Pampore.
After questioning and followed by point out of these suspected, Police and security forces have recovered incriminating material including arms and ammunition viz-Pistol with ammunition, Hand Grenade etc from the militant associates, the statement said.
“Further, the militant associates disclosed that they were in touch with active militant commanders of JeM in the area and were providing logistic and support to JeM militants for propagating their acts and were providing transportation to militants,” police said, adding that a case under FIR number 161/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pampore while further investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, Police along with Army arrested a militant associate of Lashkar e Toiba (LeT) during a special naka laid at Kralhar railway crossing in Baramulla.
The militant associate has been identified as Faisal Ahmed Dar S/o Mushtaq Ahmed Dar R/o Maldera Shopian. 10 rounds of pistol were recovered from his possession and FIR No. 271/2021 of PS Baramulla under relevant sections of law has been registered into the matter and investigation has been taken up.
