Srinagar, Feb 12: Jammu and Kashmir Police Saturday claimed to have arrested three accused persons for their involvement in kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl in Srinagar. The car used in commission of crime has also been seized, police said.
A police spokesman in a statement, said that on 11-02-2022, Police Station Bemina received a complaint from a resident of Mansoor Colony Bemina that his minor daughter has been abducted by unknown persons.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 02/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Bemina and investigation was initiated.
Subsequently, a special team was constituted immediately which acted swiftly and recovered the missing girl promptly from TRC Srinagar, police said.
“During the course of investigation, it surfaced that the minor girl was kidnapped by three persons & and was assaulted sexually. Raids were conducted at several locations and all the three accused involved in commission of crime were arrested. They have been identified as Basit Ali son of Ali Mohd Dar, Irfan Ahmad Najar son of Abdul Rashid both residents of Fruit Mandi, Parimpora and Firdous Ahmad Angher son of Gulzar Ahmad resident of Beerwah, Budgam.”
As a part of investigation, necessary medico-legal formalities were carried out and the girl was handed over to her legal heirs. Besides the car used in commission of this heinous crime has also been seized, police said, adding that further investigation in this case is in progress.
