The recent incidents and events are testimony to the fact that the consumers are being pushed to the wall by selling them unhygienic essentials including the food stuff and also at the exorbitant rates. In a recent incident, a bakery shop was found preparing unhygienic bakery for the consumers ahead of the Muslim festival, Eid-ul-Fitr. The bakery was later destroyed, but several such videos have surfaced on the social networking sites here in which the non-local labourers could be seen preparing the bakery by using their feet. Such incidents are not only shameful, but are putting the lives of the consumers at high risk due to the unhygienic food. Besides, the rates of essentials have also increased to a large extent, thus leaving the consumers to lurch at large. The concerned department here have claimed to have taken steps in this regard and also 54 shops have been sealed while over Rs five lakh have been recovered from the shopkeepers for defying the set rates on essentials. In case such events continue to take place ahead of Eid, the consumers are set to face hardships and also their lives are put at risk. Therefore, in order to put an end to such happenings, the concerned department must gear up well on time and establish more checking squads to ensure that only hygienic food is sold to the people and that too on the government set rates. The government must intensify the market checking in view of the recent happenings and also take action against the norm violators and the unhygienic food outlets, especially the bakery shops so that the people here could heave a sigh of relief.
