Srinagar, Jul 23: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement, the spokesman said that the officers from PS Chandoosa under the supervision of SHO PS Chandoosa during routine checking at Jathar Chandoosa intercepted three persons. During search, officers were able to recover 06 gms of Brown Sugar and 60gms of Charas like substance from their possession. “They have been identified as Farooq Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Ahmad Wani resident of Kachwa, Mohd Rafiq Sheikh son of Ghulam Hassan Sheikh resident of Fatehgarh and Amir Ahmad Wani son of Abdul Gani Wani resident of Zandfaran. They have been arrested and shifted to a police station where they remain in custody,” the statement said.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Chandoosa and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. “Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making continuous efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” the statement said.
