Baramulla, Aug 15: Chairperson, District Development Council Baramulla Safeena Beigh today reiterated that Baramulla has shown inclusive growth in all the fronts and the need of the hour is to make involvement of all stakeholders in the progress of the district by utilizing their potential in all the sectors.
The Chairperson made these remarks on the occasion of Independence Day Celebration 2022 at District Police Lines Baramulla here where she unfurled the tricolor besides inspected the parade and took a salute at the march past.
The march past was presented by the contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, Home guards, Fire and Emergency services, NCC and students from different schools.
DIG North Kashmir, Ubaybaskar Billa, Principal District and Sessions Judge Baramulla, Mohd Yousuf Wani, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar, SSP Baramulla, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, DDC members, BDC Chairpersons, MCB President, Officers of Judicial administration, Officers of Army and Police, District and sectoral officers, heads of different departments besides a huge gathering of people and students witnessed their overwhelming participation.
While highlighting the importance of this day in the entire country, the Chairperson said that the Nation is today remembering the sacrifices of great freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, Pandit Jawharlal Nehru, B.R. Ambedkar, Subhash Chandar Bose, Sardar Vallahbai Patel and others because of whom we are living in a free atmosphere.
While highlighting the sector wise achievements made by the district, the Chairperson said that the district has shown a remarkable achievements in all sectors under various priority areas including education, healthcare, agriculture and allied sectors, women and youth empowerment, MGNREGA, JJM, rural development, macadamization and road connectivity, Social Welfare, Nasha Mukt Bharat and self employment.
The chairperson, while addressing on the occasion said that the recent announcement made by the Union government regarding construction of Srinagar-Uri National Highway is a welcome step which was the long peding demand of the public. She said that this step of present dispensation at central level will not only prove the ease in journey but also will have the greater economical impact in the lives of the people.
Safeena Beigh in her address lauded the relentless efforts and proactive and timely initiatives taken by District administration and equally supported by all other concerned agencies and departments in achieving remarkable milestones in Aspirational District Initiative. She further said that initiatives are being taken to transform the district from Aspirational to Inspirational district.
Expressing gratitude from various quarters and the Prime Minister in particular, for his initiatives with regard to women empowerment, the DDC chairperson said that women can change the socio-economic scenario of the nation if they are heard fairly and the right opportunities are provided to them. She said that the example of this is the recently appointed President of India, Droupadi Murmu who is also a female and has set an example for every women to excel in their fields.
While addressing on the occasion, Safeena Beigh urged Home Minster of India to fulfill all the promises made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and urged him for fulfillment of his commitment of early restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking about Panchayati Raj enforcement in Jammu and Kashmir, Safeena Beigh said that the people are conveying their issues and demands at their doorsteps thus the development is seen at grass root level.
Meanwhile, a variety of cultural programmes were presented on the occasion depicting cultural diversity and heritage of the region.
Later, a felicitation programme was also organized during which certificate of appreciations and cash awards were handed over to the various concerned functionaries who have shown the exemplary services in their respective fields.
Likewise, the I-Day celebrations were also held at District Court Complex Baramulla, Sub-Divisions, Tehsils, Blocks, Schools, Health Institutions and all Panchayats of the district.
