The education sector has remained one among the top priorities of the incumbent administration in Jammu and Kashmir while a series of steps have been taken so far to ensure that the students belonging from different districts of the Union Territory would get a favourable atmosphere and education in the institutions. However, the absence of quality residential and boarding schools continued to remain a major cause for the students from Jammu and Kashmir to seek admission in the different schools across the country, forcing them to spend years together away from their families. One fails to understand that how long the students from Jammu and Kashmir will have to wait for such facilities as despite taking every possible step for the betterment of the students, such a grave issue remains unheard, pushing the student community to the wall. The officials have themselves admitted that many students move out of Jammu and Kashmir to other states and Union Territories (UTs) for getting education at primary and secondary level in a good residential and boarding school every year because the Union Territory lacks the presence of good and reputed residential schools. At this juncture when the administration is putting efforts for the betterment of the education sector, there is a need to come up with good residential and boarding schools in the Union Territory so that the students are not forced to face hardships and also visit outside States to avail the benefits of such a facility.
