The administration, especially the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department have been constituting teams in the holy month of Ramadhan to intensify market checking, in every district to ensure proper check on the food stuff being sold to the people. However, many of the establishment owners and street vendors have faced the law after the food stuff in their respective shops and carts were found unhygienic. But, the situation has not changed on the ground as the rotten fruits and other unhygienic food stuff are still being sold openly in the markets, thus putting the health of the general public at risk. The skyrocketing prices of the medicines at the same time have pushed the people to the wall and with the unhygienic food stuff, there is every risk that the health condition would get affected. Therefore, what needs to be done is to ensure that such shopkeepers and sellers are dealt with strictly as per the law so that the people could heave a sigh of relief. Nonetheless, one fails to understand how such shopkeepers and street vendors are being allowed to sell the unhygienic food stuff to the people, despite claiming high and tall about intensifying the market checking everywhere in the Valley. There is a need to make frequent visits to the market especially in Lal Chowk and other adjacent areas so that the people selling unhygienic food stuff will be identified and dealt with strictly as per the law.
