Baramulla, Aug 19: “Segregation and management of garbage are some of the challenges being faced by the town and I would like to solicit support and cooperation of each and every citizen so that we can achieve the task of 100 per cent garbage segregation at source,” said Omar Kakroo President Municipal Council Baramulla Saturday.
He was speaking on the occasion of felicitation of ‘safai mitras’ and frontline workers at Multipurpose Hall (Sherwani Community hall),here, during the ceremony of the “Safai Mitra Amrut Samman Samaroh” organised by the Municipal Council Baramulla.
He said, “oday, we are here not only to honour safai karamcharis but we, along with society, are also obliged to ‘safai mitras’ and salute each one of you for cleaning, maintaining, operating, or emptying a sanitation technology at any step of the sanitation chain.”
President Omar Kakroo said that without the cooperation of safai karamcharis and ‘safai mitras’, the situation could have been bad if cleanliness activities had not been undertaken in full speed during all the time.
Earlier in the morning, the President MC Baramulla Omar Kakroo along CEO MC Baramulla Wali Mohd Wani flagged off a sanitation drive along the National highway from Railway stop to Khanpora.
Kakroo further said that these drives will continue in every ward with proper roaster in coming days till we will not achieve 100% cleanliness in town.
