Secretary Health chairs public darbar at Handwara

Kupwara, Jan 23: Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Tuesday visited Handwara and chaired a mega public darbar at Handwara to take stock of public grievances besides assessing development activities being executed in the area.
Chairman, District Development Council Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Panditpori, Deputy Commissioner, Ayushi Sudan, Vice Chairman, District Development Council, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir, DDC member Rajwar, Salman Mir, DDC member Mawar, Khurshid Ahmad, DDC member, Nutnoosa, Zahoor Ahamd, ADDC, Altaf Ahmad Khan, ADC, Nazir Ahmad Mir, Principal GMC Handwara, Dr. Iffat, Chairman, Traders Federation Handwara Ijaz Sofi, district officers, PRIs besides other representatives and locals attended the programme.
During the public outreach programme, the Secretary had exclusive interaction with all the participants who apprised him of their issues and concerns relating their respective areas. He also sought feedback from them on implementation of government schemes in their areas while enquiring about the impact of these initiatives on their lives.
The Secretary, while responding to the issues raised by the public during the public darbar, assured them that all these will be taken up with the concerned authorities for an early redressal.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that tourist attractions of the district like Lolab, Bungas, Keran and Teetwal have become hotspot tourist destinations in North Kashmir, besides youth of the district is turning to entrepreneurship vigorously which is an encouraging indication of enhanced economic growth in the region.
While highlighting the importance of public darbar, Dr. Abid Rashid said that these public outreach programs act as a bridge between the administration and the people, paving way for enhanced growth and development in the district. The government functionaries connect with the people directly analyzing their specific development needs and aspirations, he added.
Chairman, District Development Council Kupwara, demanded accelerating pace of work on the GMC building besides addressing shortage of timber in forest depots of Kupwara district.
Vice Chairman, District Development Council Kupwara, expressed hope that the health projects being executed in the district will get special attention from the authorities for timely completion. He also demanded up-gradation of SDH Kupwara to District Hospital besides expeditious execution of works on GMC Handwara.
During the event, a documentary depicting work on GMC Handwara building, Associated District Hospital and related hostel facilities was screened.
On the occasion, the Secretary e-inaugurated three infrastructure development projects including Panchayat Bhawan at Dudipora, health centre at Bakiaakar and up gradation of Palpora-Khanpora road.
Dr. Abid Rashid along with Chairman DDC Kupwara and Deputy Commissioner Kupwara inspected the stalls established by different departments on the occasion, interacted with the officers and beneficiaries of different CSSs.
Later, the Secretary paid a visit of GMC Handwara functioning from make shift arrangements, makeshift administrative blocks of GMC and District Hospital Handwara where he interacted with the staff, patients and concerned engineers. He directed the concerned engineers to speed up the pace of the work so that GMC building is completed in time.
