Bhaderwah, Feb 12: An elderly woman was charred to death in a forest fire incident that broke out in Thingna village of Diggi Panchayat in Bhaderwah area.
The elderly woman was grazing her sheep when the incident took place.
Superintendant of Police (SP) Bhaderwah, Vinod Sharma said that in an unfortunate incident, an elderly lady died in a fire incident that broke out in the forest area of Village Thingna of Panchayat Diggi Bhadarwah.
“In preliminary investigation, it came to the fore that about 95-year-old Sheela Devi, wife of Salka Ram of Village Thingna Bhaderwah was burnt alive in the fire incident while grazing her sheep in the forest and died on the spot,” SP added.
“In preliminary investigation, there is nothing mysterious in the case,” SP informed.
After getting information, the public of the area rushed to spot and took the body of the deceased lady to her house. It has also been reported that the public has doused the flames.
After legal formalities, the last rites were performed at Drudhu area of Bhaderwah, in which large number of people participated. (KNO)
