Keep Kashmir connected

The recent incidents in Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed some sectarian controversies with some communities entering into verbal brawls as well on the social media platforms. Some of the comments and actions have created a wedge between some religious groups following which the sectarian controversies erupted, which prompted the top religious clerics to issue statements, asking the people to maintain harmony and unity in the Valley. Besides, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have swung into action and arrested some of the people for issuing the statements that hurt the religious sentiments of a particular community. Such measures at this juncture are pivotal in order to maintain peace and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir, which is known for its religious diversity for decades. Nonetheless, the religious leaders at this juncture have to play a key and pivotal role by making the people of their community calm and ensuring the sectarian harmony in the Valley. The religious groups should convey a message to the people belonging to their sects to avoid entering into any unfavourable measures to maintain the harmony, peace and unity among the masses in Jammu and Kashmir. It is the time when the people should show some seriousness and avoid falling prey to the issues that can prove detrimental to the peace and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir. The government should also play its role to maintain the peace on the ground so that the vested interests trying to add fuel to the situation are kept at bay.
